HAPPY TUESDAY PARENTS!!!!!

Don’t forget that tonight is OPEN HOUSE!!!  The students have been working so hard on different things to show you tonight!!!  I hope you all can make it. It will be from 6pm- 7pm.

Please turn in FIELD TRIP MONEY AND FORMS IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY!

Week of April 21st

Happy Tuesday!

I am still in need of 4 chaperones for the field trip.  If you are interested, please let me know!

Don’t forget our First Grade performance is Thursday night.  Please be here at 6:30pm.  Students will meet in the gym.

Don’t forget to send your child’s 1 inch binder for our end of the year project.

I will not be sending home Guided Reading this week.  We are finishing all of our Open House projects this week during our guided reading time. 


What we are learning this week:
Reading-I can summarize information read in nonfiction text.

Writing-I can organize a story that has a strong beginning, middle and end.

Spelling-I can spell -ow rhyming words and contractions.
how, cow, down, don’t, it’s, won’t, want, there, more, have

Math-I can identify attributes of 2D and 3D figures.
I can sort 2D and 3D figures.

Science-I can identify items to be recycled, reused and/or reduced.

First Grade End of Year Updates

It is almost time to celebrate the end of First Grade!  Mark your calendars for these fun and upcoming events.  Let make the end of the year great!

1st Grade Music Program: Oceans of Fun! Thursday April 24th, 6 pm
Come see this fabulous show that your students have been working on!

Teacher Appreciation Week – May 5th -9th
Information will be coming out from your Room Parent on how we can show appreciation to your teacher for the great year our students have had!

Tie Dye T-Shirts – Due Friday May 9th or Before
We need each student to bring in a new white t-shirt to have a shirt dyed for them to wear on the day of the end of the year party. Please write your child’s name in permanent marker on the tag.  (We will gladly take extra T-shirt donations in child mediums and larges)


 
Field Day – Friday, May 9th
If would like to participate or be a volunteer, please check in with your teacher.  Come cheer the kids on!

Field Trip to the Heard Museum- Friday, May 16th
Let your child’s teacher know if you are interested in attending.  Don’t forget to complete a background check online! Field trip forms and money ($9 cash) are due Friday, April 25th. We hope you can join us!

End of Year Party – Thursday June 5th
More Information will be coming home regarding the end of year party. We are looking for volunteers to help with the rotation stations for each class.  The party starts at 1:30 PM and we will have Snow Cones, games and much more! J

What we are Learning:

Writing-I can revise my poem by choosing more precise words.

Reading-I can summarize information read in nonfiction text.

Spelling-I can spell words with -ide and -ine.

Math-I can generate and solve word problems when given a number sentence.

Science-I can observe and record the life cycle of a frog.

Week of April 1st

HAPPY WEDNESDAY PARENTS:
I waited to send the email this week since we do not have a lot going on with STAAR testing happening.  We are finishing our Ocean animal research for open house.  I will not be sending new Guided reading books home this week because we have been doing small group writing time. 
Friday is our Celebration of Learning at 8:15am. You are welcome to come if you would like.
If you have any gentle used or would like to donate, we could use some board games (Monopoly junior, twister, etc.) or card games for STAAR days.  We have to have indoor recess those days and some more games would be helpful for entertainment on those long days!!!!!! My games have become boring! Haha. :o)
We are in need of also the following:
