Week Oct. 29th

Happy Halloween!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Here is what we are learning this week!

Reading-I can create mental images as I'm reading.

Social Studies-I can explain why technology has changed things over time.

Writing-I can understand and use adjectives in my writing.

Math-I can use fact families to solve addition and subtraction sentences.
Example:
6+1=7
1+6=7
7-1=6
7-6=1

Science-I can identify and discuss how sound is important to everyday life.

Week of October 22nd


I hope everyone is having a great week!  Here is what we are learning this week!

Reading-I can listen to the sounds vowels make in words.
I can make and write a text to self connection. 
For example-When I read the part about Arthur losing his tooth it reminded me of when my tooth was pulled out with a piece of string.

Writing-I can capitalize the names of people in my writing.
I can write about my small moment.
For example-My top front tooth was loose.  A string was was tied around my tooth.  My dad yanked the string really fast.  My tooth was out and it didn't hurt!

Spelling-I can spell -ap and -an word family words.
I can spell like, no, the and at high frequency words.

Math-I can use patterns to solve addition problems (doubles and doubles plus 1).
For example-If I know 2+2=4, then I can solve 2+3.

Science-I can predict and identify changes in materials caused by heating and cooling.  (We will observe how objects change from liquid to solid and solid to liquid.)

Week of October15th

I hope everyone had a GREAT weekend!  Here is what is going on this week!

This week is RED RIBBON WEEK:
Celebrate being DRUG free and making healthy choices!!!

Monday- Wear RED DA!
Tuesday- HAT DAY
Wednesday- JERSEY DAY OR CLASS T-SHIRT
Thursday- SNEAKER DAY
Friday- SPIRIT DAY


What we are learning:

Reading-I can make text to self connections.
I can identify a need and a want.

Writing-I identify proper nouns.
I can start and end my sentences correctly.

Spelling-I can spell: can, for, have, like, said, and, are, the, my, I

Math-I can identify and describe the value of coins.

Science-I can learn that force, motion and energy are related and part of everyday life using magnets.

Week of October 1st

A few reminders for this week… Starting this Wednesday, we will be wearing our CLASS T-SHIRT every Wednesday!

Also, please remember to sign up for a conference time.  Your child has the sign up in their blue folder.  If you already have sign up, I will see you at that time
Next Monday, October 8th!

Thank you for all the fruit that was sent in.  Make sure you ask your kiddo what we are learning this week in Science.


What we are learning!

Reading-
I can respond to the rhythm and rhyme of a poem by clapping the beat.
I can identify rhyming words in a poem.

Writing-
I can use nouns and verbs to create sentences.
I can recognize mistakes in my writing and edit them.

Spelling-
I can spell and, in, my, on and said.

Science-
I can classify (sort) objects by shape, color, and taste.

Math-
I can identify, describe and extend patterns.
