Week of September 24th

Its been a great first ALMOST month of school!  I really enjoying your kiddos. 

Our class T-shirts are in... ANDI WOULD LIKE TO DUB Wednesdays as our class T-SHIRT day!
Please have your kiddo wear their T-shirt on Wednesdays...

I will be sending another sign up sheet home on Thursday for those of you that do not have a time yet.  Please choose 2 times and I will try to accomodate everyone.  If you can not make it to conferences on Monday, October 8th please let me know!

What we are learning this week!
Reading:
I can confirm my prediction by reading the text.
Writing:
I can use a period at the end of a sentence
I can write a story with a beginning, middle and an end.
Spelling:
I can spell am, have, I, like and me.
Science:
I can record weather information.
I can notice and observe natural objects in the sky such as: air, clouds, rain and sun.
Math:
I can describe a number using tens and ones

Week of September 17th

What we are learning this week!
Reading-I can identify and explain the purpose for the Constitution.

Writing-I can capitalize the beginning of a sentence and use punctuation at the end.

Spelling-I can spell kindergarten words a, be, can, for, go.

Science-I can demonstrate and record ways objects move.

Math-I can count and create numbers using tens and ones.

Week of September 10th

 

Its been a great few weeks of school!!! I am sooo thrilled about how anxious each student is about learning.   PLEASE SEND YOUR CHILD'S T-SHIRT money by the end of the week. I still have 5 students that have not brought their $8.00.

What we are learning this week!

Reading:
I can show respect to my teacher and classmates by staying on task during independent reading time.
I can work quietly and take care of myself during independent reading time.
I can use reading strategies for unknown words.

Writing:
I can work independently during writer's workshop.
I can contribute to a class book.
I can use punctuation at the end of sentences correctly.

Phonics:
I can identify rhyming words.
I can create rhyming words.

Science:

I can observe and describe the location of an object in relation to another such as above, below, behind, in front of and beside.

Math:  I can skip count by tens.
I can create sets of tens and ones.

WELCOME BACK!!!

Hi Parents-

I apologize for the delay... BUT WELCOME!!!!  I am so excited to have your kiddo this year!  First Grade is such a milestone year.  I am truly excited and honored to be your child's teacher.  I hope they have already come home excited about learning and what is to come in my classroom!  Curriculum night is Thursday evening at 7:15pm.  I hope you can join us to hear  what your child will be learning this year.  Please do not forget that T-shirt money ($8.00) is due this Friday.  These T-shirts will be used for filed trips and special occasions at school.  Please feel free to email me with any questions you may have! What we are learning this week!
Reading: I can use my response journal to record my thinking about my reading.
Writing: I can capitalize the first word in a sentence.
Handwriting: I can write capital F, E, D, P, B, R, N and M.
Phonics: I can recognize my name and my friends names in print.
Science: I can use science tools.
Math: I can compare and order numbers 0-50.


I hope everyone has a GREAT week!  We have been.  And if your child told you I ran out of the classroom today and did not return... It was because my 8th Grade daughter got hit in the head with ladder in theater class.  I had to take her to the emergency room.  All is well! She has a slight concussion but nothing bad... Ask me about it when you see me, it's quite a humorous story!  We are a little clumsy in my family!  :o)
