Week of Novermber 28th

Welcome Back!  I hope everyone enjoyed a great, restful break.  We are starting to collect Winter Party money for our party on December 16th.  Please send $5.00 cash to me ASAP!!!! 

First grade has been selected to sponsor 2 angles this year for the holidays, a 7 year old girl and a 6 year old boy. If you are able to help brighten their holiday here's their information.
Girl-clothing size 8; shoe size 13; needs boots coat & winter clothes. Her wish list is boots, Barbie, arts & crafts. She loves to draw and paint.

I want to take a moment and say HOW THANKFUL I AM FOR MY PARENTS!  You guys are Awesome.  I appreciate all you do and I APPRECIATE you sharing your chilld/children with me!  If you are sending items for the expirement on Friday, please do by tomorrow.  Please keep sending tissue, crayons and paper towels!  I hope EVERYONE has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Week of October 31st

I hope everyone is having an awesome week!  We have had a lot of sick kiddos in class.  Please remind them to sanitize and wash their hands all the time!  We also need more kleenex.  We are going through a box a day because of the colds and allergies.

Weeks of October 3rd & 10th

We have had a great time learning about each other through our all about me posters!  The kids have really gotten involved in telling everyone about their families.  I didnt realize how much they all like to talk about themselves! :o)  Conferences are on Monday.  Please email me if you need to reschedule or cannot remember your time!  (willicar@friscoisd.org) Don't forget our field trip is on Thursday.  We will be departing the school around 9:00am and returning around 11:30am.  PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD WEAR THEIR GREEN C. Hi Parents:

We have started practicing taking Spelling pre-tests on Mondays and Spelling tests on Fridays. The kids are doing great!  We are using our Kinder sight words. If you have not paid the $8.00 for your child's t-shirt, please do so soon.  I would like for everyone to be wearing our class shirt! We are still in need of paper towels and kleenex.

All About Me Posters and Field Trip Permission slips are due on Friday!  There are NO GUIDELINES for the posters!  Just get as creative as you want at home!  We still need paper towels and kleenex.  We've had alot sniffles and I have been reminding the students daily to sanitize and wash their hands!!!

CONGRATULATIONS JACOB!!! OUR HIPPIEST KID FOR SEPTEMBER!!!

WHAT WE ARE LEARNING THIS WEEK!!!!

Reading-Making Connections. We will use the term "Text to Self Connections." Using our prior knowledge of something to connect ourself to a story.

Writing-Observational Writing. For example, your child may choose to write about a pet. They would use a circle map and brainstorm what they know about their pet. Then, they would use a tree map to come up with 3 sentences. Such as, My dog is big. She has brown fur. She feels soft.

Spelling-Kindergarten words-a, be, can, for, go, am, have, I, like, me, and, in, my, on, said, are, is, see, the, up, at, it, they, to, you  I will be sending home flash cards soon for the kiddos that do not know how to spell or read these words independently.


Math- Place Value - Grouping sets of 10 and knowing that "1" in 15 is a set of TEN...

Science-How Things Move. The students will learn objects can move in a straight, curved or zigzag line.

What a great 2nd week of school!!  We have been working on procedures and learning how to do math work stations and the DAILY 5!  Curriculum Night is tonight at 7:00pm.  If you cannot make it, our First Grade presentation will be on our teacher website and I will also post it on my blog.

Week of August 22nd

WHAT A GREAT DAY WE HAD IN FIRST GRADE!!! We wrote our numbers to 30.  We wrote a story.  We had circle time.  We enjoyed getting to know each other and learning the rules.  I got LOTS of hugs at the end of the day! That tells me everyone had a GREAT day!  Please check my blog for important dates and messages.

This week:
Please send your child's t-shirt money by this Friday.  The cost is $8.00. Cash is best! Checks can be made out to: Charlie Speigel.
Please send back the ORANGE paper that introduces your child by Friday.

If you would like to donate, we need the following items:
Hand Sanitizer
5 sets of Colored Pencils
5 rolls of paper towels

Please make sure you send back your child's BLUE folder everyday.
I will also be sending home an assignment for you to do with your child over the next week.  It will be an ALL ABOUT ME POSTER!
