I want to take a moment and say HOW THANKFUL I AM FOR MY PARENTS! You guys are Awesome. I appreciate all you do and I APPRECIATE you sharing your chilld/children with me! Weeks of October 3rd & 10th
We have had a great time learning about each other through our all about me posters! The kids have really gotten involved in telling everyone about their families. I didnt realize how much they all like to talk about themselves! :o) Conferences are on Monday. Please email me if you need to reschedule or cannot remember your time! We have started practicing taking Spelling pre-tests on Mondays and Spelling tests on Fridays. The kids are doing great! We are using our Kinder sight words. If you have not paid the $8.00 for your child's t-shirt, please do so soon. I would like for everyone to be wearing our class shirt! We are still in need of paper towels and kleenex.

WHAT WE ARE LEARNING THIS WEEK!!!!
Reading-Making Connections. We will use the term "Text to Self Connections." Using our prior knowledge of something to connect ourself to a story.
Writing-Observational Writing. For example, your child may choose to write about a pet. They would use a circle map and brainstorm what they know about their pet. Then, they would use a tree map to come up with 3 sentences. Such as, My dog is big. She has brown fur. She feels soft.
Spelling-Kindergarten words-a, be, can, for, go, am, have, I, like, me, and, in, my, on, said, are, is, see, the, up, at, it, they, to, you I will be sending home flash cards soon for the kiddos that do not know how to spell or read these words independently.
Math- Place Value - Grouping sets of 10 and knowing that "1" in 15 is a set of TEN...
Science-How Things Move. The students will learn objects can move in a straight, curved or zigzag line.

WHAT A GREAT DAY WE HAD IN FIRST GRADE!!! We wrote our numbers to 30. We wrote a story. We had circle time. We enjoyed getting to know each other and learning the rules.
